Hormones
Hormones are key signalling molecules that help to regulate adequate functions of metabolism, fertility, sleep, energy and mood. Hormones can be negatively affected , by inappropriate diets, environmental pollutants, stress, wireless technology, radiation and illness. In the same manner that positive relationships exist with the right type of exercise, adequate sunlight, sleep, energy and nutrient rich diets.
Unfortunately the standard practice for assessing hormone function, such as blood tests and reliance on genetic evaluation, doesn’t always reveal the appropriate information for someone to improve hormone function. After studying endocrinology as a post-graduate, it became clear to me that the reliance of a single blood test for diagnosing an individuals current hormone status was futile unless you understood a patients diet, stress levels or aspects of pollutants within their environment.
A low carb, hard to digest diet that is often full of raw green or brown whole foods can be a disaster for an individual suffering from energy, digestion, sleep or fertility issues. If your diet, exercise and lifestyle are truly working for you, then the following points should be present:
• Good energy
• Good sleep
• Optimal digestion and bowel habits
• Healthy libido
• Emotional balance
• Clarity of thoughts
• Absence of pain
Eating a diet high in junk foods or a ‘clean’ so called healthy diet can have similarities when it comes to experiencing decreases in the points above. Understanding basic strategies to assess and improve hormone function can be achieved without the need for inaccurate blood or DNA and gene profiling.
